Colds all around
With winter being upon us and the holidays coming to an end, although it is still the holidays to me since New Years hasn't happened yet, then we are faced with colds and people around us being sick.
As some doctors might mention, at least I hope they do, I try to drink more orange juice and take a slightly bigger dose of my vitamin C supplement. I've heard vitamin C, which is in orange juice as well, helps to keep this kind of stuff at bay....or maybe it helps boost the immune system.
So with sinus stuff and other illnesses going on around me I do my best to stay clear of them. First off, the past two christmases before this one I was sick, we all know that is no fun around the holidays. Then I kept hearing of aunts or uncles having the sniffles or chilling really badly.....so I made sure to just wave at the while in the same room. ;0)
Then my mom gets sniffles and stuff, but I am going to spend a day for Christmas at my parents house, so I am not staying clear of mom. I just made sure to wash my hands more and use my hand sanitizer later that night to make sure all the stuff was gone.
The following link from the American Diabetes Association is an article that talks about sick days and what to do when they come. This is written for and geared to teens with diabetes, but we can all benefit from reading and knowing what to do when we get sick. At times in my adult life I made some of the mistakes they mention in the article, but I've since learned and that is another reason I think this will help.
